Brook Group posts - now via "Ghost"
A proper introduction.
If you are reading this post you are getting the Brook Group emails through the new "Ghost" system rather than the old "substack" system. We have moved to the new system for a number of reasons, and I am just going to probably bore you by explaining why.
- Substack has its strengths, but also some weaknesses. The Ghost interface for me is cleaner and less cluttered.
- Substack had what might be an advantage of a lot of associated social media. As well as my stuff, you could, if you wanted, get a load of others. I know some of you do that and some of you don't, and that's fine.If that's the case, you can still get other Substack subscriptions, but you'll no longer get Sherborne Brook posts through Substack. Social media can be a bit excessive these days. It can be a distraction, and I hope you find the feed of Brook posts without any associated social media refreshing. I think I find it refreshing anyway.
- One or two of you also expressed some concern about Substack policy whereby they take a subscription from just about anybody, including extreme right political entities, and that made some of you, and me, somewhat uncomfortable.
So we've left Substack behind. Long live Ghost! If all you do is read my posts as emails, that's fine; that's all you'll get; that's no problem at all. However, all the previous posts have been extracted from Substack and are now available on this webpage.
Sherborne Brook Posts via Ghost.
You'll be able to comment on individual posts through the Ghost system. Be aware that only your email address is held, no other personal details, and your email address is held within European GDPR compliant secure servers.
Remember, you can unsubscribe if you find all this stuff far too boring. If you're struggling to do it through Ghost, let me know and I will do it manually. Subscription is free, and I'll never charge for providing these posts. I don't do it for money, and I don't mind at all if you're not interested. But if you are interested, let me know and give me some feedback. Tell me what sort of posts you like, what sort of posts bore you to tears, and we'll go from there. Indeed, if you have your own story to tell, you can pass it on to me, and I'll publish it here and give you the credit. Certainly please continue to feed me your observations of the local wildlife.
Goodbye Substack, long live the Ghost!
