Sherborne's Housemartins arrive on schedule
Serena reports the first sight this year of Housemartins, inspecting a previous nest by her house. Serena carefully records their appearance every year and says that they almost always appear 12-15th April so that's bang on schedule. Although swallows have been seen also, no sign of the usual couple who have their own personal nest.

I can't help but associate the image above with the one below, which seems to have parallels for Sherborne - birds, trees, an arched footbridge, a body of water...

Another "Ancestor Oak" has been planted in the grounds of the village school playing field, to mark the retirement of the head teacher, Mr Moore. Thanks to Brian for helping put the guard posts in. Planting oaks continues then to be associated with the school, who were intimately involved in planting oaks in Century Wood 126 years ago. A thread through history, and a commitment to the future.
